The next “Heidelberg Talks Online” meeting (in English!) takes place on Friday, February 23, 2024, 7 pm – 8 pm CET. The topic will be:
“Colonial Crimes and Reparations: The Case of Namibia and Germany”
The speaker will be Karina Theurer, international law expert and lecturer at Humboldt University Berlin. She received a State Exam degree in Law from Humboldt and an M.A. degree in Latin American Studies from Freie University Berlin. Ms. Theurer has also led the Institute for Legal Intervention at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights and the Law Clinic for Human Rights at Humboldt and has worked as a lecturer and research associate at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. She currently works as an advisor for the Namibian law firm Dr. Weder, Kauta & Hoveka, focusing on the lawsuit against the joint declaration and for reparations.
