The Berlin-Brandenburg regional group of the DAAD Freundeskreis invites to a city trip to Halle an der Saale with a visit to the State Museum of Prehistory and the local Christmas market!
Halle is a charming city near Leipzig that is rich in history and culture. The city has an almost intact old town with the impressive market church, a cathedral, two castles and many museums. Among the museums, the State Museum of Prehistory is particularly noteworthy, as it houses one of the oldest, most extensive and most important archaeological collections in Germany on human evolution and cultural history. Among the finds are numerous pieces of global importance, such as the famous Nebra Sky Disk, the oldest known concrete depiction of astronomical phenomena in the world. During the trip there will be a guided tour (60 min, English) of the permanent exhibition in the Museum of Prehistory, followed by a city walk and a visit to the Christmas market.
