Invite Fellows to Our Home!
Giving a warm welcome to DAAD scholarship holders from all over the world and explaining Germany and the Germans to them: this is what the “Deutschland hautnah – Germany behind the scenes” programme is all about. Local residents invite DAAD fellows to their homes or show them the area, including places not shown in any tourist guide.
We are always looking for hosts anywhere in Germany. Often, people who have lived abroad for a longer period of time like to get involved. It is important to enjoy the exchange with other cultures. Whether it is an invitation to stroll around town, an excursion to the countryside or a whole weekend at home with the family: it’s the gesture of welcome that counts.

The selection and allocation of scholarship holders and hosts is organised locally by the regional groups. There may be differences in the procedure. Generally, the programme is sent out by email once a year.
Please note that participation in the programme is not possible until you have provided your personal data and this has been verified.
