Our guided tour in English gives us close-up insights into how Bavaria is governed: The Staatskanzlei/Bavarian State Chancellery serves as the executive office of the Minister-President, presently Markus Söder, CSU, as head of government. The Bavarian State Chancellery is also represented by missions in Berlin and Brussels, and internationally active, primarily in economic and cultural matters.

The building where it is housed is also interesting as it consists of two historically different parts. It was erected in 1989-93 at the edge of the Hofgarten (court gardens) opposite the former residence of the Bavarian kings and incorporates the cupola of the former Army Museum which was almost totally destroyed during WW II.
