Munich, 21. April 2024 11:00 to 0:00
The RG Munich goes on a guided tour of the Dachau Memorial Site. The Dachau concentration camp was liberated by US army troops 79 years ago, on 29 April 1945.
On March 22, 1933, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up near Dachau. Over the years, almost 200,000 people were imprisoned there by the Nazis: political opponents, homosexuals, emigrants, Jehovah’s Witnesses, so-called professional criminals and, in later years, above all Jews. In a guided tour of the Dachau Memorial Site, historian Lilly Maier explains the background of the concentration camp system to us, shows how prisoners in Dachau lived and suffered and how the concentration camp changed over the course of 12 years.
